In Memorial: Allison Parker and Adam Ward

WRKE (Salem, VA) – Today WRKE and the world remember two fallen members of the media from the Roanoke area. Allison Parker and Adam Ward were tragically taken from us two years ago today, live on air during a report in Moneta, Virginia. Parker grew up in Martinsville, Virginia and graduated from JMU. Ward grew up in Botetourt but his family says he was truly a Salem Spartan, born and bred.

He loved Salem sports, especially football, and joined his father, a guidance counselor at Salem High School, as a 7th grader. After graduating from Virginia Tech, he joined the team at WDBJ 7 and reported multiple times from the Roanoke College campus covering our athletic events.

As a media outlet in the area, WRKE has the highest respect for these two journalists and they will never be forgotten.
